    On this Montford Point Marine Day, we celebrate the heroes who had to fight for the right to fight. The first black Marines trained at Camp Montford Point in Jacksonville from August 26, 1942 until the Marine Corps was desegregated and Camp Montford Point was decommissioned in September 1949. Today, they are simply Marines. Learn more about their story at VisitJacksonvilleNC.com/MontfordPointMarines. And, make plans to visit the Montford Point Memorial at the Lejeune Memorial Gardens.
